My freshman year of high school, we had to write an essay about a poet. I picked e. e. cummings, but my english teacher told me that his work was inappropriate for school.

She let me do the paper on Sylvia Plath instead.

…so poetry about multiple suicide attempts is appropriate for school, but not poetry about caring, physical intimacy.
